Parents of Tommy Gene Chancellor
Thomas Nelson Chancellor and Ruby Jewel Morris Chancellor, my grandparents on my fathers side. Thomas was born 13 September 1916 at Fairview, Hughes County, Oklahoma and Ruby at Hazel in Seminole County, Oklahoma on 28 August 1918. They were married 14 November 1936 in Holdenville, Hughes County, Oklahoma. Ruby passed away at Boyce Nursing Home in Holdenville on 26 January 1997 and Thomas followed shortly after on 29 March 1997. They are both buried in the Holdenville Cemetery.

Parents of Thomas Nelson Chancellor
Picture of Edmond Franklin (Frank) Chancellor, wife Lida Elizabeth Adkins Chancellor and daughters Mirtie Ellen and Millie Betty (standing). Millie was Franks daughter by first wife Rosa Minnick. Frank and Rosa were married when he was 27 and she was only 14 on 27 October 1903. It is assumed she died shortly after giving birth to Millie on 29 November 1904. Frank was born 2 March 1877 in Logan County Arkansas. Lida was born 2 September 1894 in Eufala, Indian Territory (now McIntosh County), Oklahoma. Frank and Lida were married 23 October 1910 in Yeager, Hughes County, Oklahoma. Lida passed away 2 November 1946 after a lengthy illness reported to be cancer. Frank died on 9 December 1963. Both are buried in Oakhill Cemetery in Yeager, Hughes County, Oklahoma.
Parents of Ruby Jewel Morris Chancellor
Obed Providence Morris and Annie Mae Saladin Morris, parents of Ruby Jewel Morris Chancellor with my father, Tommy Gene Chancellor. Obed was born 2 September, 1887 at Farmville, Henderson County, Tennessee. Annie was born 4 August 1887 at Loftin, Douglas County, Missouri. They were married 7 December 1908 in Wetumka, Hughes County Oklahoma. Obed died of complications after being burned twice by mishaps using gasoline on 5 October 1968. Annie passed away 27 June 1972. Both are buried in the Holdenville Cemetery.

Parents of Obed Providence Morris
Francis Marion Morris (far left) and Mary Elizabeth Dodd Morris (far right), with the Renfrow family in between. They are the parents of Obed Providence Morris. Francis (Frank) was born in 1852 and Mary in 1855, both in Tennessee. They were married 8 October 1872 in Benton County, Tennessee. Frank died before 1922 place unknown. Mary died after 1930 as that is the last census she was found in at age 74 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Their places of burial are unknown.
Father of Lida Elizabeth Adkins Chancellor
James Lewis Adkins was born17 March 1869 in Missouri to Caswell Adkins and Margaret Angeline Atkinson Adkins. James married (no record found) Delilia "Dosh" Blevins, possibly in 1893 around Eufala, Indian Territory, as their first child, Lida was born there in 1894. No photo found yet for Dosh.This was second marriage for her, and she had a daughter by her first husband, an Atkinson. Dosh died sometime before 1937. James died at Boyce Manor Rest Home on 25 December 1952 at the age of 82.

Parents of Orah June Terry Chancellor
Daniel Boone Terry and Bessie Beatrice Crouch Shelton, parents of Orah June Terry. Dan was born in Yeager, Creek Nation, Indian Territory on 25 December 1904. Bessie was born on 3 February 1908 at Crowder, Pittsburgh County, Oklahoma. They were married on 25 April 1924 at Scipio, Pittsburgh County, Oklahoma and divorced 4 November 1944 in Hughes County, Oklahoma. Bessie died 12 March 1989 and is buried in the Holdenville Cemetery. Dan died 20 February 1990 in McAlester, Pittsburgh County and is buried in the Tannehill Cemetery there.

Parents of Daniel Boone Terry
William Riley Terry Jr. was born 4 July 1867 in Webster County Missouri to William Riley Terry Sr. and Nancy O. Greathouse Terry. Eliza Jane Atkinson was born 17 May 1870 in Missouri to James S. Atkinson and Sophia Deckard. They were married 1 June 1887 with the consent of both mothers on the license as they were both underage. WR died 6 February 1933 in Pittsburgh County, Oklahoma of pneumonia and was buried from home. It is said that his sons used boards from a barn to float his homemade casket across the river to the Tannehill Cemetery. It was also said that he suffered a stroke shortly before his death. His son Daniel also had a stroke a few years before his death. Eliza lived on until 28 May 1966 and is buried beside WR in the Tannehill Cemetery. Eliza's older sister Margaret Angline (Betty) Atkinson Adkins is my GGGrandmother on my fathers side of the family.
Parents of Bessie Beatrice Crouch Shelton
William Henry Crouch was born 25 October 1879 to John and Amanda Brown Crouch in Gainsville, Texas. John Crouch was born in Georgia according to the 1880 Census, which is the only one we have found for him. He also lists his parents as being born in Georgia. No marriage record has been found for he and Amanda Brown. John disappeared from the family between 1883-85 and Amanda married William L. Shelton in 1886. Our William Henry adopted the name Shelton to live under, but never legally. He married Cordia Lee Dobson at Canadian, Indian Territory on 25 October 1899. The name on the license is Couch. William died at Eastern State Hospital (psychiatric hospital) in Vinita, Craig County, Oklahoma on 15 January 1950 and is buried in the Hugh Lowe Cemetery near Scipio, Pittsurgh County, Oklahoma. Codia was born in Mulberry, Arkansas to John Burl Dobson and Charity Emaline Beal Mikels. Cordia died 12 August 1959 at her daughter Virgie Winters home in Clarksdale, Mississippi and is buried beside William. All of their children used the name Shelton throughout their lives but married under the Crouch name.

Mother of William Henry Crouch Shelton
Amanda Brown Crouch Shelton (standing middle) was born December 1857 in Mississippi. William Henry Crouch is seated on the right and on the left is his stepfather William L. Shelton holding Ella Leaora Crouch, first daughter of William Henry. Woman standing on right is Minnie Crouch, sister of William Henry. Amanda's grave at Hugh Lowe Cemetery near Scipio, Pittsburgh County, Oklahoma is beside William and Cordia Crouch Shelton. When asked her name, my grandmother Bessie did not know. She said they always called her "Big Granny". It was the search for her name that inspired our genealogy research. Amanda died in April 1913 from a kidney ailment and was buried from home.
Father of Eliza Jane Atkinson Terry
James S. Atkinson was born to William B. and Elizabeth Syndesky Atkinson on 26 July 1829 in Wayne County, Tennessee. James married Sophia Deckard about 1850 as they were found living with his parents in Green County, Missouri, Ozark Township in that census. Their first child was born about 1851. For timeline on James click here. James was a licensed trader in the Muskogee Nation, Indian Territory as early as 1872 when he got his first government license. The license was maintained until the Curtis Bill became effective in 1896. He remarried in 1874 (no divorce proceedings were ever found) to America Thurman July 22 in Boone County, Arkansas.
